KALEIDOS COLLECTIVE: the name.

The name Kaleidos originates from the Ancient Greek term καλός (kalos), meaning "beautiful, beauty", and εἶδος (eidos), denoting "that which is seen: form, shape". The trailer operates as a mobile art gallery and pop-up shop where individuals have the opportunity to "observe various forms of beauty".

THE GRANT: Regional Arts Commission.

In 2023, I was awarded a grant from the Regional Arts Commission to execute an idea of mine that had been brewing for quite some time. Since embarking on my journey as a full-time artist back in 2015, I’ve kept a mental log of some of the major and minor obstacles that come with exhibiting fine art. I.e., the commission cuts, the art fair set-up and tear-downs, presumptuous art galleries, etc.

If I was experiencing these issues, surely other local artists were as well. And heck, any business owner for that matter. My goal is to simplify the backend operations so you can focus entirely on your product without any distractions or outside concerns.

ABOUT US: the artist & the builder.

Rachel Roe is a local artist, working form her backyard art studio, built by her husband in 2015. Her work is sold through national retailers such as Williams Sonoma, Anthropologie, West Elm, Minted, and Artfully Walls. Check out her website here.

Her husband, Ryan, built her backyard art studio in 2015 as an act of encouragement to pursue her art career. However, once her work began to take off, she began pondering how to showcase her work other than the traditional art fair, gallery space, or brick & mortar. Cut to: Kaleidos Collective

OUR VISION: the why.

Imagine a world where art isn’t confined to a high-end gallery or hidden in an artist studio. Imagine your favorite online business had a retail space for you to visit. Imagine that store came to you. Yup, on wheels. It rolled right into your neighborhood.

We’re making that vision a reality. A mobile pop-up shop for artists, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and big businesses alike.
